| This paper reports a comparative study of two cupped oysters, Crassostrea gigas and C angulata, and their hybrids reared in the Marennes-Oleron Sound (France) under usual farming conditions. The relative proficiency of these species was characterized in terms of growth, survival and reproduction, three major concerns for oyster farming. Four populations of each taxon were sampled (C gigas: Japan and France; C angulata: Taiwan and Spain) and used as progenitors to produce six different progenies under common hatchery and nursery conditions (transfer of 5 to 6 g of seed oysters at sea and rearing in bags for 2 years). | Within its oyster quality project, the Marennes-Oleron Professional Organization (SRC) aims to improve the zootechnic rearing conditions in ponds for the Pacific cupped oyster C. gigas "fines de claires" and "speciales de claires", presently specified by the French norm AFNOR NF V45-056 (AFNOR, 1985). The proposed modifications concern a seasonal management of the oyster biomass per m2 , using 1 and 3kg/m2, during 2 weeks from April 1rst to October 31, and 3 weeks from November 1 to March 31, respectively. | Dans le cadre de sa démarche « qualité », la SRC de Marennes-Oléron souhaite faire évoluer les normes zootechniques d'élevage de l' huître «fine de claires» et «spéciales de claires» défi nies actuellement par la norme AFNOR NF V 45-056 (AFNOR, 1985). Les modifications proposées concernent une gestion saisonnière de la biomasse par m2 en élevage, respectivement de 1 et 3kg/m2 pendant 2 semaines entre les 1 avril-31 0ctobre et 3 semaines, du 1 novembre au 3 1 mars. | L'aquaculture des huîtres est une activité traditionnelle en France depuis le moyen âge. Sur la côte atlantique, dans le bassin de Marennes Oléron, la commercialisation annuelle de C. gigas atteint environ 50 000 tonnes. Cette région bénéficie d'une infrastructure de claires ostréicoles, anciens marais salants, où les huîtres sont affinées avant commercialisation. L'huître est un produit de consommation festif dont les 3/4 se commercialisent durant les fêtes de fin d'année. A l'heure actuelle les techniques d'affinage, visant à améliorer la qualité (goût, coloration, engraissement des huîtres), sont peu fiables. | Ecophysiological study was conducted on the japanese oyster (Crassostrea gigas) reared in Marennes-Oléron bay (France), during May 1992. Most of the somatic growth of the oyster occured during that month. The measurements were achieved from a removable laboratory stated in Le Chapus for 3 days at different tide level (coefficient of 49, 57, and 88). The food conditions were monitored through a computer with a continuous record of the turbidity during aIl the tidal cycle. In spite of an important variation between the food conditions in mean seston load, from 13,5 to 54,6 mg/!, the available organic matter ranged from 3 to 4,9 mg/l. | This study presents the zootechnical performances in their natural habitat, the Marennes Oléron Bay, of two Crassostrea gigas and Crassostrea angulata taxons of European and Asian origin, as well as those of their "European" hybrids (6 studied strains). Growth performance seems to be a phenotypic characterisation linked with the maternal origin (c. gigas or C. angulata). The Asian "pure gigas" or "pure angulata" strains' growth performances differ more from those of their European "sisters" than the European taxons with their hybrids. | Our objectives can be broken down into two main axes: -Mapping of the swamp and of its use - Thematic mapping of the trophic availability of the hydraulic units. Data acquisition has been continued throughout the year 2003 To do so, a number of technical adjustments have been necessary. In this final phase of the contract, a new point of view has been tackled: that of modelisation. Indeed, considering the complexity of the calculations used, the evaluation of the trophic availability in the different hydraulic units requires the use of such techniques and software.
